Welcome Julia Claire Clay to the Market! We already love her porcelain handwork and designs. We can't wait to see her new line of jewelry and mountain inspired ceramic wares.

"I love pattern, textile design and putting imagery on my work! My mother knew from a small age that I was born to be an artist! it all started with a pair of scissors, construction paper and some tape. I would cut out patterns and decorate everything! It's no wonder that I was drawn to using decals!

I started using decals in college. I was screen printing china paints and using toxic chemicals to clean my screens. It was so toxic I was only allowed to do this in the middle of the night. It was then and there that I started saving up for my very own color decal printer.

I now proudly own a ceramic printer that allows me to put any image on clay! I use vintage wallpaper and gift wrap patterns on my jewelry and draw my own imagery for my pottery! Being a ceramic artist has allowed me to use every form of my art skills in one body!"

We are thrilled to have Amelia of Nefer and her beautiful macrame handwork available at the Market! This body of work ultimately is a marriage of an interest in the art of Macrame, or decorative knotting, and the elements of the earth, fusing them into a form of adornment fit for royalty.

Since traveling abroad and spending two years in Brooklyn, she now finds herself now in the little mountain escape of Asheville, NC.  In this place of spiritual renewal, encounters with plant spirit medicine, the folklore of the Southern Appalachians, and traditional handcrafts kindle a new yet intuitive approach to her designs.  Thus Nefer is born, drawing inspiration from various african adornments, macrame knotting techniques, and the fiber arts of indigenous american peoples.

We can't wait to see the great finds Raina of Posies for Lulu Vintage will bring for us to peruse through for the Market! Read below to learn more about Raina's love of vintage and the hunt.

"Vintage has been my passion for most of my life. My main inspiration was my Mother. I grew up in Los Angeles and New Mexico in the early 70s with the coolest hippie Mother ever! She was a seamstress for rock bands in Hollywood in the 60s. She made all of her own clothes and mine too!

Those days of Flower Children and Rock 'n Rollers, bright colors and Indian tapestries always stuck with me and inspired me, so I decided to study fashion after college.

I have been collecting vintage clothing for 29 years, and started by selling my own collection. Now I get to travel to find amazing items! I finally quit my day job and found my calling when I opened a shop on Etsy, and now my own website!"

We can't wait for Ashlie's sweet jams and amazing flavor combinations of Pick & Preserve make a special appearance at the Market!

"I don't have the story of fresh jam in the pantry from hours of canning on a hot summer day. Growing up, my family  had good ol' store bought jam. The occasional fancy labels with aunt "so in so" or cousin "such" sometimes made an appearance but I was too young to know the difference."

"My vision started many years ago and came to fruition when my partner, Andrew, bought his farm, Ashe' Spring. We live together on the farm and are in the process of creating a homesteading environment. Ashe` Spring will soon become one of the main sources of fruit for Pick & Preserve. Until then, I am excited to work with local farms and the abundance of resources we have in the area. My goal is to work closely with, and get to know, each person and family who grow the beautiful produce we use. I also want to recognize and show appreciation for those who support our vision. We feel that these concepts are what will set us apart from the rest."

We are so happy Sally of Ratbee Press will be there with her fun letterpress prints and screenprinted tees and totes.

Ratbee Press started in 2012 with an interest in woodblock printing and hand-lettering. Add an apprenticeship at an old letterpress printshop in Asheville, a gifted a 1920's Pilot press from school house auction, a couple years accumulating lead and wood type, learning carving techniques, and dreaming about being a full time print shop, and here we are.

"Here at Ratbee Press we design and print cards, art prints, wedding invitations and t-shirts using letterpress or screenprinting. It's mostly a one-woman operation. Each product is an opportunity to dig in and get dirty, create, make mistakes and learn. We're inspired by the natural world, music, and the occasional pun."

We are thrilled artist Krista Allison will bring her work with fiber and found objects to the June 18th Market!

Krista grew up in New Jersey learning all kinds of crafts and art and thrifty habits from her mom. Once farmland, bordering her property she spent her childhood roaming freely, finding animal bones, fruit trees and berry bushes, secret forts, and abandoned rusty field tools. She took two things from this time: a love for solitude in nature, and an appreciation of things time-worn and decayed.

Krista describes her "textile pieces as connected to the observable, external world and the randomness in it; while the paintings reflect an inner wilderness. The persona and the psyche, maybe. As I move forward and develop my various streams of consciousness, I hope to mix and meld them so that the internal and external can be expressed simultaneously. That's the goal: bringing all the parts together into unity."
